KWSG Opens Bid for Construction of AIH Common, Utilities Infrastructure
In its mission to establish an agro-industrial hub as a major clement in the Kwara State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project, the state government has again hosted bidders for the procurement of the construction of common infrastructure and utilities to be equipped in the agro-industrial hub.
Recall that a similar event was held at the Coordination Office of the Kawara State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project on bid opening for the construction of the processing and non-processing support facilities for the Agro-Industrial Hub to be sited at Malete in Moro Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking at the event, the State Project Coordinator, Kwara State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project, Engr. Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, said that the exercise was the second phase of the bid opening on infrastructure in Agro-industrial Hub of the Kwara SAPZ Project.
Busari who maintained that bid opening in the procurement process is an imperative towards transparency and effective delivery of the project also disclosed that the method of the procurement is International Competitive Bidding (ICB).
The coordinator commended the state governor,
Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, who doubles as the Chairman of the project's Steering Committee and the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Honourable Oloruntoyosi Thomas, who chairs the Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee; and the
National Project Coordinator, Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones Project, Dr. Kabir Yusuf,
for their support, commitment to the project and the vision to commercialise agriculture for rural development, job opportunities and export advantage.
He also appreciated the patience, cooperation and contributions of the bidders, consultant, transaction advisory firm and the non-governmental agencies at the exercise, assuring a level playing field for all the bidders.
The Technical Assistant Procurement Officer, representing the National Coordination Office, Mr. Tony Onywekyweli, acknowledged the fact that bid opening is a criterium in the process of engaging a firm for the construction of common infrastructure in the Kwara Agro-Industrial Hub.
He revealed that he was on ground to observe the opening and what transpired during the exercise to see whether the bidders aligned with the laid down rules, knowing fully that the set out requirements will be sent to the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to ensure that the process carried out at the bid opening exercise was in compliance with the bank's procurement tradition.
The Procurement Officer, Kwara State SAPZ Project, Mr. Kabir Yinka Ibiyemi confirmed that out of a total number of twelve firms that obtained bids, five submissions were received as at 12:00 noon of the day (May 6, 2026) when the register was closed.
According to him, the bidders present at the occasion were Dantata & Sawoe Nigeria Ltd, Stonemill Nigeria Ltd, DPL Construction Ltd, Pavifort- Sebil JV and Fik Contracting & Engineering Limited
The Procurement Officer then read the bid checklist to guide the bid opening process, emphasised that compliance with the yardsticks in the checklist will determine the bid evaluation.
Representatives of the bidders confirmed that the process was okay, satisfactory and transparent.
Speaking on behalf of the non-governmental organisations, Engr. Tajudeen Yusuf Mishainkafa of the Centre for Community Empowerment and Poverty Eradication, Engr. Tajudeen Yusuf Mishainkafa, commended the Kwara SAPZ staff for ensuring credibility for the process.
